My husband has a 1966 Ford Fairlane that he has worked on ever since he could walk with his dad. It's now his, and I've been wanting to get pictures taken with it for a long time now, but we just got around to it. We love how they turned out! I just wanted something casual and simple since the car was the main focus. There's nothing better than a gravel road, a midwestern summer sunset and your love! When I saw this dress I knew I had to have it or I would be kicking myself for not snatching it. The details are so beautiful with the hand embroidered flowers. It's lightweight and will be the perfect dress during the warmer months this summer. I wore heals in this look, but it would be equally as cute with a pair of sandals or wedges. The hat is one I picked up from Old Navy last year. I'm usually not a huge hat person, but I've started wearing them more during the summer months. I wore this one pretty much every day when we were in New Orleans. It's cute and keeps the sun out of my eyes! All I can is I'm obsessed and can't wait to wear this dress again and again!
The past month has been full of highs and lows. About 2 months ago I happily found out I was pregnant. Unfortunately, at my first doctor's appointment we found out I had miscarried. It's something deep down I knew could happen and was preparing myself every day for that outcome, but whenever the reality hits you it still is a hard thing to swallow. I'm thankful for my husband taking care of me during the hard days after while my body was adjusting, my mom and dad for their support and encouraging words and for hope. My mom gave me this picture of my grandma and I a few days after it happened and I stumbled upon this quote from my her that was just what I needed at that moment:
"I'll never forget in the midst of pain, sadness and sorrow there was still hope that everything would be alright. And it was."
My grandma's first pregnancy was also a miscarriage (at 5 months), and her third pregnancy she delivered early at 7 months and sadly lost the baby. Thinking of her and what she had to go through during those times makes me want to keep going, and know that everything will be alright.
I'm not sharing this for empathy or sorrow, but to hopefully let someone else know who may be going through this same thing that they aren't alone. This isn't a fun thing to talk about or go through, but there's always hope.
I threw this look together when my lovely friend and I decided last minute to go out and shoot (hence the messy bun!)! It was the perfect evening for it. I found this skirt at a flea market a few years back. When you come across a great vintage piece you have to snatch it! The colors are bright and airy and how great is the pleated detail? I love it! I paired it with a lightweight cream sweater, sage green belt and neutral shoes. How do you wear your vintage pieces?
This post I'm sharing our spring photos from last year. We are getting pictures taken in a few weeks which is something I'm looking forward to. My husband and I have been together for about 11 years, and for as long as we have been together we really don't have a lot of pictures together (besides engagement and wedding photos) which is one reason why I try to have pictures taken when we can. Plus, who doesn't like to have new photos? They are something you will have forever!
Since these pictures were taken a few months before our first wedding anniversary I wore a few pieces from my wedding dress. The lace top was something I wore over my dress during the ceremony along with the blush belt. I tied it in with a blush maxi skirt and fresh florals, of course. I'm excited to share our new spring photos in a few weeks! And, posting will get back to normal soon! Thanks for reading!

This time of year in the Midwest has me longing for spring more and more every day. We’ve had a nice break in the weather the past few weekends which is always inspiring to refresh your wardrobe and routine! This outfit was inspired by a few pieces I picked up from a local shop, For Home & Her. It’s always important to shop local especially when you have so many great stores at your fingertips! This dress is a beautiful combination of colors and has a lace-up V-neckline with bell sleeves. The cardigan can be buttoned to be worn as a shirt or can be worn over something like I am wearing here. My Rebeccah Minkoff purse has been my every day bag for the last 3 months. It’s big enough to fit all of my essentials, and is the perfect size. I love it so much I’m thinking of buying another one for the spring and summer season (like this one here)!
I enjoy wearing looks like this because they are easy to throw together (I literally put this together in 5 minutes). Pairing two different shades of denim is the key so you have some dimension to the outfit. I added a few of my favorite vintage finds from my trip to New Orleans this summer. How beautiful is that blue sky? It’s getting me eager for spring!
I kept a few pieces from my grandma's closet after she passed. Most of them are tucked away for safe keeping, but there's a few pieces hanging in my closet I like to pull out and wear from time to time. This sweater is one of them. I love the pastel colors and geometric pattern. It's perfect for this time of the year because it keeps me warm, but lightweight enough that I don't feel like I'm suffocating in it. Since the entire look is cool and pastel tones I paired it with a leather jacket to give extra detail.
